Ridiculous - Is a free sandwich worth this much?
November 21st, 2008 2:49 PM

Yesterday, my wife (Andrea) and I had lunch together.  Typically, we are unable to have lunch because she is caught up in meetings or can't take a full hour (the life of a VP).  Anyway, we thought some chicken sandwiches sounded good.  And of course if you think Chicken Sandwich, you have to think of Chick-fila.  Well there is a new Chick-fila coming to Frisco, TX.  We were not sure when it was opening, but thought it would be a good idea to check it out.  Usually when anything opens in Frisco, it is PACKED with people.  But hey, we love to support the new local restaurants and a chicken sandwich from there is always good.

When we arrived, we were not surprised that we missed the opening BY ONE DAY.  It actually opened today (11/20/08).  We were, however, surprised to see this very large crowd.  Not just a crowd... this was a crowd with tents.  Remember, I went on 11/19 and it did not open until 11/20.  I figured there must be someone important coming or something to give a speech.  NOPE!  Turns out that the first few customers that arrived would receive a free meal once a week for a year.

Sure, if you happen to be the first person to show up.. BONUS.. you get free lunch for a year (we are talking about a $5.50 meal).  But posting tents and sleeping overnight... I don't think so.  Check out the photos I took while driving by...

Would you camp out for a free sandwich once a week?

Chick-Fila is officially open.  They are located on the SouthWest corner of El Dorado and North Dallas Tollway.  Remember, they are closed Sundays so make sure to go Monday through Saturday.

Grand Park in Frisco Texas
November 12th, 2008 5:47 PM

Have you heard the news???

Frisco Parks and Recreation has released the lay-out to GRAND PARK, which will be located between Cotton Gin and Stonebrook, East of the DNT.  The park has been described as being similar to Central Park in New York.

According to the Director of Parks and Recreation, Rick Wieland, 'the city will grow into this park over the next number of years and things will adjust accordingly.'  A lot of the plans right now, at least on the West and North of the park, are conceptual at this point.  Documents have been submitted to the USAC of Engineers to gain permission to construct the lakes.  It is said that 'this process can take between 12 and 24 months' to get final approval.  Once all permissions have been granted, Parks and Recreation will be able to firm up the dates.

For now, take a look at the plans -http://www.friscotexas.gov/uploadedFiles/Departments/Parks_Recreation/GrandPark_ MP.pdf

Come Join the Fun and 'Salute the Troops'!
November 4th, 2008 5:48 PM

Each year our city has a parade. It has been going for many many years. It’s a way to bring the community together. That’s what is so cute about Frisco. We have over 100K residents, but we still try to keep the ‘small town’ feel.

As with most parades, there is a theme and it changes each year. This year, the theme is “Salute the Troops”. All floats are encouraged to show support to our troops and our country. Everyone is invited and may even participate. Typically, we see unique floats from local schools, churches, businesses, and not just from Frisco. Many of the surrounding areas participate as well like McKinney, Little Elm, and The Colony.

When - Saturday 11/8/08 @ 11:00 am

Where – Main Street

Route – East on Main Street from Pizza Hut Park to Downtown Frisco

So, if you live in Frisco Texas or any of our surround areas, come on out and join the fun! The more the merrier!

You are still able to register your business, church, or any other organization. Not interested in registering to be in the parade? Well, we also need volunteers. You can’t have a successful parade without a great support group!

Here are some pictures from 2007

See you there!
